The four things that fix a laundry room
Counter, rod, hampers, and a home for the bottles
A folding counter across the machines turns the worst part of the job into the easiest. A hanging rod means the shirts that cannot go in the dryer go straight onto hangers instead of onto the end of a bed.
Built-in hampers keep sorting in the room where sorting belongs, and a cabinet sized for detergent bottles and the iron stops the counter being a shelf.

Will a counter fit over my machines?
Over front-loaders, usually. Top-loaders need the lid clear, so the counter moves beside the machines instead. The measure settles it in about a minute.

Is a small laundry closet worth doing?
Often it is the best return on the site. A narrow closet with one wire shelf is wasting a full wall of height.
