When the window wins, the storage moves
In Lakeway and out through The Hills and Rough Hollow, the kitchen usually faces the view, and the view is the reason people bought the house. So the wall that would carry upper cabinets carries glass instead, and every cubic foot those uppers would have held has to be found somewhere else.
That makes base cabinetry and islands do double duty: full-extension deep drawers, a taller pantry run on the one solid wall, and an island planned as storage first and a surface second. It is a more demanding design problem than a standard kitchen, and it is the reason so much of the work here ends up built to the room rather than bought in fixed widths.
The other Lakeway constant is the original custom build from the eighties or nineties: heavy dark built-ins, a wet bar nobody uses, and a kitchen closed off from the room with the view in it. Those are remodels, and they change the house more than any other job we do.
Practical
Steep driveways and narrow turns
Hill country lots are not kind to deliveries. Long, steep driveways and tight turns decide whether cabinetry arrives assembled or flat-packed and built on site, and that is worked out at the measure rather than on the morning of the install.
It is a small thing that goes wrong often, and it is one of the advantages of the person who measures the job being the person who briefs the crew that fits it.

It works when the storage is planned for properly: deeper drawers below, a taller pantry run on a solid wall, and an island that holds more than it looks like it does.
Can you replace dated built-ins outside the kitchen?
Cabinetry in living spaces is part of what we build, and full home remodels are offered. We do not do tile or shower work, so a full bathroom is not us.
Is Lakeway too far?
No. It is the longest regular run from Liberty Hill and it is still a normal working day.
